Shadow Shot Sunday

Another Sunday appears, our last before day light savings sadly ends next week, hope you all took part in EARTH HOUR lat night and turned off your lights for an hour to help save the environment....we went down to Manly for dinner and a wander and the girls were saddened by the number of shops closed but with lights left on all night....it was however great to see a few restaurants participating with just candles for light!

Easter Bunnies

  Don't you just love easter all those cute bunnies...okay so its the chocolate that I love but seriously the bunnies are pretty cute...last weekend the girls were pretty excited to welcome home their precious bunny - Latte! Some wonderful people had been 'bunny-sitting' whilst we lived in Cairns (rabbits are illegal in QLD) so now that we are back and re-settled he has come home.

 

He has been enjoying hopping around the backyard freely and helping himself to my herb basket which has now found a new home (out of reach) but he is pretty cute!  He was joined by a cute little girl bunny which I created after visiting Mel www.melissagoodsell.typepad.com and Fiona's www.fionacarter.typepad.com Easter extravaganza - lots of great Easter ideas - check them out.

 

Not sure if he exactly likes the competition ...

Its a stunning autumn day in Sydney today so I have 'dived into the archives' to find something worthy of such a beautiful day...

 

Butterflies are such beautiful elegant creatures, this one beacame very attracted to Taylor who was wearing a bright pink swimming costume, stayed with her for ages...

Shadow Shot Sunday

Hello everyone, Sunday again can you believe it..another busy week! My SSS today is taken 'around my backyard'...

 

We have been busy in the backyard for the past few weekends getting the garden 'back in shape' after our sojourn in Cairns....there is also a new deck taking shape (very nice I must say - will post some pics when it is finished)..

 

This great statue is part of our water feature, sadly in need of repair since our move BUT part of the plan for our 'backyard blitz'...I told you this SSS was addictive, I now carry the camera EVERYWHERE luckily this week I didn't have to travel far for some good shadows..enjoy your week everyone and PLEASE head over to www.heyharriet.blogspot.com and check out the great photo collages and say g'day xx

THE Birthday Dinner Party!

 

This was a fabulous idea (even if I do say so myself) for a party theme to celebrate turning 10........the 'grown-ups' arrived at 6.30pm, all 'frocked up for dinner', then 'played' outside while the "mocktails" were being prepared..crushed ice and watermelon topped with pink lemondade and served with a cocktail umbrella - perfect!

 

Time for "entree"..we served vol-a-vonts (tuna and corn) outside whilst they mingles and played 'ladies'...then...time to sit down for main course!

 

The girls giggled as we served Champagne (aka lemonade) and Shiraz (aka apple and blackcurrant juice) but soon got into the swing of it.."Waitress may I have another glass of champagne please..". Dinner was chicken schnitzel (always a fave) with individual ramekins of potato bake and a side salad. There was lots of chatter and all the girls made individual toasts to the Birthday girl - very sweet.

  Back outside for lots of dancing and singing...

 

Then...drum roll please....the dessert tasting plate...filled with lots of yummys (enough for one each - no fighting)..tiny chocolate mousse, ice-cream and sprinkles, strawberry and chocolate wafers, lollies, home-made heart shaped chocolates and Birthday vanilla cupcakes...yum

 

More dancing..(think the Mocktail has kicked in)..9.00pm - time for all good parties to come to an end...

Oops...don't forget your box of chocolates to take home..thanks for helping Lilly celebrate making 'double digits'!

Yes its that time again...its been a busy week..Lilly's "dinner party" was a huge success.....promise to post all about it in the next few days but today here is another SHADOW SHOT for you all to enjoy...

 

I LOVE this flower...such a beauty, this photo was taken in the Botanical Gardens in Cairns, I certainly miss all the beautiful tropical flowers...enjoy!

Happy Birthday Lilly

WOW 10 years old, seems like yesterday we were welcoming you into the world, and here you are all grown up and looking forward to your first "dinner party"...almost there but first was cupcakes for your class buddies (who thought of that tradition that the birthday person supplies the cakes???) and a special dinner...we were lucky to finish dinner there were so many phone interuptions and versions of "Happy Birthday dear Lilly.." - we love you Lil, stay true to yourself, you are a very special lttle girl - oops I mean almost tween.

 

Cute cakes huh, I made a batch of CRABAPPLE BAKER'YS VANILLA CAKES from a book mum and dad gave me last year for my birthday..there are some really yummy recipes in here, check it out...then simply placed cute little lollies I found at big W on top..pretty cute I thought.

 

 

But wait there's more....Nana spoilt you with a special "Cockle cake"...I LOVE these biscuits, my grandmother made them all the time and it brings back great childhood memories every time my mum makes them..nice to have another generation make new memories!

Can you believe it.....Sunday again,where has that week gone...AND its now March...next you will be telling me Easter is around the corner....

My SSS this week is to celebrate the official 'end of summer' and welcome 'autumn'...this photo was taken down at Hyamns beach, south coast NSW.....a favourite of ours to visit in Autumn and winter when the summer crowds have gone and the water is icy and refreshing to dive into (okay its VERY cold but you have to do it - so beautiful)...something about walks along the beach...open fires at night...ahhh bring on Autumn....
