Seems like just yesterday that I headed south for a weekend away with Taylor to celebrate her finishing school and a few short years later is was Lilly's turn. We flew to Melbourne early Thursday morning and after a quick flight and easy transfer we were sitting in Kinfolk Cafe with the first of many 'Melbourne coffees'...we loved that all the staff at Kinfolk are volunteers and apart from great coffee (and an amazing toastie) ALL their proceeds are donated back to charities!!!! Way to go team!
We stayed at The Blackman Hotel which takes its design inspiration from a famous Australian artist, Charles Blackman and his original artworks adorn the walls. The hotel bikes were a great way to explore the local area and meander on the many dedicated bike tracks down to St Kilda beach for the morning, and the hotel was close enough to walk into the city and a quick taxi ride home (or tram) after a day of shopping.
All that shopping, bike riding and walking can make you VERY hungry and apart from (ahem many) pitstops for coffee we managed some amazing food as well. We enjoyed Il Nostro Posto a traditional Sicilian restaurant in the famous 'Hardware Lane' one night, another favourite was Pillar of Salt in Richmond, a great way to end a morning of shopping on Chapel Street.
So there ends another "schoolies" trip, such a lovely way to celebrate the end of their school career as we look forward to new adventures...kinda happy that both my girlies were 'under 18' and the regular schoolies trip did not appeal...lucky me I got to spend quality time...so proud of both and the wonderful human beings they are xox
