Weekend Away - Canberra

Another weekend away...this time a sneaky visit to our nations capital - Canberra. I say it was sneaky as we have dear friends living in Canberra but this weekend was about just John and I as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The Hyatt Hotel was our choice for a weekend of luxury, we were spoilt with a wonderful room, amazing buffet breakfast every day, drinks in front of the fire in the evening and visits to the clubhouse for a swim and spa - total indulgance.

 

We did venture out of the hotel for some sightseeing, first stop (as it was such a stunning day) was Black Mountain Tower with its sweeping views of Canberra.

Next it was the Australian War Memorial. Sadly it has been a long time since I visited this amazing museum. Do yourself a favour and if you find yourself in Canberra put it on the top of the list - it truly is a remarkable exhibition and well worth a few hours!

It was truffle season and we were lucky enough to enjoy a degustation meal at one of our favourite restaurants - The OTIS Dining Hall - OMG delicious!!!!

There are some amazing vineyards close to Canberra so we may or may not have stopped in to sample a few wines....and a few made it into the back of our car...oops!

Ahhh I love a good weekend away, recharge the batteries, fresh air, good company, great food and wine - whats not to love...right!???

Weekend Away - Coffs Harbour

Gotta love a weekend away...a mini-break....we have had a few lately LOL. First up we flew up to Coffs Harbour to visit family, such a great weekend away and with magical winter weather it was just perfect!

Just over an hour flight from Sydney and less than 10 minutes to family from the airport its an easy weekend away. The arrival and departure flight with spectacular views did not disappoint. A drive on Saturday afternoon saw us rediscover Nana Glen and Woolgoolga..lots of photo opportunities.

Sadly it was Sunday before we knew it and time to fly home...back to reality...another busy week was awaiting!

Friday...time for a crafty catch up

Friday has come around quickly this week, perhaps its because despite the stunning weather we have been enjoying last week was "flu week" and I spent most of it in bed sick......much better this week and time to catch up on all things crafty.

Some 'extra' photos that I printed for our New York album have found there way on to my card creations this week...and yes of course there are nearly always vintage doilies and vintage papers to include.....

Still a steady stream of 21st Birthdays to celebrate...so many pretty papers to choose from...

So there you have it JULY cards done and dusted...always a good feeling to have cards made with love, packaged and ready to send or give in advance....now back to cleaning up the mess I made!!!!

To market, to market....to buy some flowers

It was an early start this morning to head to the flower markets....the temperature gauge was just on 5' when my buddy picked me up at 5.30am...was it worth it??? ABSOLUTELY.

Lots of beautiful produce out there today, the roses were stunning....sometimes the choice can be overwhelming, I try to go with a plan and stick to it its easy to get carried away sometimes...We took a "newbie" with us someone who had always wanted to go but had never made it out there...she was not disappointed and came home armed with lots of goodies to play with.

So where the Hydrangeas....

And don't get me started on the Australian natives.....

I contained myself to some Australian gum nuts, a couple of bunches of roses, my favourite peonies, some beautiful tulips and a cyclamen plant!

I came home and "played" and my home is now filled with beautiful flowers...all before my morning coffee!

A Crafty card update....

Lots of paper crafting...and an exciting new project on the go...but first a catch up on all things crafty...

My never ending supply of doilies ALWAYS gets a work out when it comes to my card making!

I always try to personalise each card making it extra special for the recipient...each card is made with LOVE!

Holiday snaps are starting to make an appearance...lots of memories!

Some of my favourite old magazines are also getting a workout - seems a shame to cut them up but "recycle-reuse-repurpose" has always been my motto!

Magazine layouts can be so pretty.....

Its ALWAYS about the packaging and of course a matching card!

Mothers Day celebrations...2017

This year we celebrated Mothers Day with a quiet day...a lazy morning followed by lunch with my folks and then volunteering for the charity we support in the evening...as usual I was spoilt rotten by my wonderful family...nice to be reminded how much you are loved!

I LOVE this photo of my mum and her favourite doll...the same doll was lovingly restored and given to my 'first born' , the 'first granddaughter' to carry on tradition - special!

Special cards were hand made with love for special mums....

And of course it wouldn't be a celebration without an amazing cake from Taylor....this delicious cake, adorned with fresh roses was filled with lemon curd and raspberries...and I must say there was very little left at the end of our lunch.
