A gift bag is ALWAYS a good idea to wrap an awkward shaped gift, I am happy with the result of this gift for a girlfriends Birthday....

Celebrating someones Birthday is ALWAYS a good excuse to have a High Tea...last weekend I did just that and got together with a few girlies to enjoy some vintage goodness and lots of yummy treats.
I was stuck for ideas as to what to get as a Birthday gift until I found this fabulous white china pineapple and a theme emerged......
I found the cute little knife with the old pineapple at a favourite store on the Northern Beaches called Alfresco Emporium and set out to make my own pineapple jam....it was so delicious (lucky it made enough for two jars LOL) ...you know me always love a 'themed' pressie!

Special Birthday celebrations in our house this week as Taylor turned 18....
So proud of the young lady Taylor has become, what exciting adventures she has ahead of her!
We celebrated the big "18" with a cocktail (a cocktail for Miss Lilly) at a fun local bar called The Hunter in local Mosman then headed towards the harbour to Ripples at Chowder Bay with one of her good friends for a beautiful 3 course meal and some french champagne...the evening, venue and food was amazing.
Happy Birthday beautiful...your new adventure awaits!
Time to get started on the Birthdays that creep up quickly after the festive season....January is a busy month so a crafting day was in order...
Yes even though its a new year I am STILL loving my doillies LOL, even when it comes to wrapping a present...

This next present was actually a voucher for massage...soooo...into a little noodle box with a fancy smelling soap and now its a little more interesting (and the recipient will have no idea).
Last off a quick and easy gift tag using one of my other obsessions...washi tape.

Wow what a week it has been, I recently celebrated the big 50 and was thoroughly spoiled!! I wasn't really sure how I wanted to celebrate turing 50 (at one stage I must admit going on a family holiday and just escaping was looking like the perfect option) but slowly I came around and decided it was worth celebrating! Thenm suddenly I went from planning a party with family and friends to also having a Vintage Tea Party with a few girlies....so much fun!
But first the Birthday...just another day of work and after school activities but managed a few lovely treats along the way....Taylor and Lilly took me down to Manly for a special breakfast at Fika Swedish Kitchen a must if you are ever in Manly - yummo...at lunch I went for a sneeky pedicure with Taylor and a good friend ...then tapas and a lovely cold glass of Pinot Grigio with hubby in the evening before a delicious lemon tart and pressies later when we were all gathered back home...did I mention that amongst flowers, pressies left on my doorstep, heaps of phonecalls and text messages, loads of love on Facebook and a mialbox of cards, I was given a brand new pair of Nike gym shoes from the girls (so generous, love them!!!) PLUS a Tiffany bag (yes Tiffany, the blue one) with stunning diamond earrings...woo hoo...!!
Fifty is the NEW Fourty..right!!!????
End of the school holidays here and although we haven't been up to much the time has slipped away from me, hence my lack of posts.....perhaps its time for a crafty catch up!

Today I thought I'd share with you a couple of presents I recently pulled together...
The first a "Pirate Kit" for a special little man who lives interstate...last time I spoke with his mum she told me about the "Pirate Party" she was planning for his Birthday and I couldn't resist putting together this loot package for him.
The "2 dollar shops" are filled with lots of pirate treasures including mandatory swords and eye patches, plenty of coins and even an earring or two....I downloaded a Treasure map for the Birthday Boy to colour in (gotta love Pinterest) and even managed to find a "pirate" t-shirt at K-Mart...it all came together and I recycled a paper bag with another Pinterest find "WORK LIKE A CAPTAIN AND PLAY LIKE A PIRATE"...love it, I am sure the recipient will too!
Next up a box filled with lots of yummies, yes its another ice-cream kit! I have made a few of these now, the girls love to give them as presents to their friends and the girls LOVE to receive them. We started with the ice cream dish then added lots of goodies perfect to make an ice cream treat, finishing a 'personalised' spoon.

I have made this card design before (I always seem to come back to it) but the inspiration comes from my old Cairns blogging buddy Annette who sadly no longer blogs (although she is a tad obsessed with pinterest LOL) but somehow she still manages to inspire me...

Mothers Day is this weekend and I have been busy filling a few last minute orders....a few of my little treasures are on their way to new homes...
Somebody is going to wake on Mothers Day to this little vintage beauty....hope they love her as much as I do!!
Been 'playing' with a few "new treasures"....they are FOR SALE (but just quietly hope they hang around for a while)....

Last weekend a very dear friend celebrated a 'special' Birthday with a retro styled afternoon tea for her close buddies...look at the very cool invite...
I wanted to make her something cool and funky to use at the afternoon tea and before I even received her invite I went thrifting myself to make this special stand....talk about great minds...!
I also wanted everyone to have the opportunity of telling this special lady why we all love her and treasure her as a friend so created a set of cute little cards (based on her black and white theme) that we could all write a special message on and she could read later and always have as a momento...
Then of course there was the cake....I chose a favourite recipe from of course Martha Stewart, this very yummy Chocolate Flecked cake is always a winner with its delicious layers and frosting...
